Divertikkelsykdom

Små utposninger på tykktarmsslimhinnen, divertikler, oppstår i økende grad hos mange av oss ettersom vi blir eldre. Hos de fleste gir det ingen plager, men ca. 10 prosent kan oppleve betennelse (divertikulitt).

Bare 10-20 prosent av dem som har divertikler, vil få plager. Symptomene er da avføringsendringer - vanligvis i form av forstoppelse, luftplager eller smerter som kommer og går, og som regel lokalisert på venstre side av magen.
