Ofte påvises nyrecellekreft tilfeldig på ultralyd eller CT-undersøkelse tatt av andre årsaker, eller som ledd i utredning av blod i urinen eller høy senkningsreaksjon.

Operasjon kan helbrede mange med nyrecellekreft.
